The following training is available at Success Skills Centre. Please note that while most courses are offered to clients free of charge, there is a modest fee for some specialized training.  You will be advised if there is a cost when you call 975-5111 to register.

An Introduction to Canadian Payroll

30 hours, free for SSC clients.

An overview of the Canadian payroll system, including employment standards, earnings, allowances, expenses, reimbursements, benefits and deductions, taxable benefits, Canada Pension Plan contributions, Employment Insurance premiums, income tax, calculating net pay, and the record of employment.

ACCPAC

General Ledger

Learn how a general ledger works, define the G/L Company Profile and background information, and create a chart of accounts and accounts groups. Create, list, and post a batch. Print financial reports.


Accounts Payable

Learn to define a company profile, create data files, use cash management, complete a system cheques run and pre-cheque register. Create, modify and delete vendor records, start a new invoice batch, process vendor invoices, understand archived and recurring batches, manual cheques, GST and PST payables.


Accounts Receivable

Learn to create a company profile, set up customers, process a recurring charge, batch, create and post an interest batch, process payments, enter the debit, maintain credit and tax accounts, enter prepayments for open items accounts, enter cash register sales in an invoice batch, and create an accounts receivable write off.

Simply Accounting

Introductory

Learn about the Goods and Services Tax. Learn how to enter general journal transactions, add new accounts, adjust a posted entry, print general reports, and set up a company from a template. Learn accounting for purchases, payments, sales and receipts. Store a recurring journal entry, enter cash purchases, adjust a posted invoice, enter cash sales, reverse a NSF cheque, enter a discount for customers, convert a sales quote to a sales order, and convert a purchase quote to a purchase order.


Advanced

Learn accounting for credit card sales and purchases. Enter sales to foreign customers, create company files, prepare the system, set up foreign currencies, enter a system for foreign currencies, enter bank class accounts and linked accounts, set up credit cards and sales taxes, enter payroll transactions, create a new project, set up budgets, and perform accounts reconciliation.

Quickbooks

Create a new company. Enter opening balances. Add and edit accounts in the chart of accounts. Complete cash and credit sales. Complete purchase and payments made by cheque and on credit. Complete payroll, etc.

ACCESS

Basic and Advanced

Create and open a new database, create tables, forms, and reports. Query a database. Create an application system using Macros, VBA, and Switchboard.

Excel


Basic

Understand menus and commands, shortcut menus, and toolbars. Manage multiple workbooks, enter labels, make corrections, save and close workbook, change data alignment, centre a title, change the column width, use formulas, use ranges, name ranges, copy data and formulas, and print worksheet.


Advanced

Learn to work with Excel lists, multiple worksheets and workbooks. Develop a professional looking worksheet. Work with charts, graphics and data tables. Understand scenario management. Import data into Excel and work with logical functions, etc.


AutoCAD

Basic AutoCAD classes are an introduction to a computer aided design program  for engineers, architects and those with various technical backgrounds.  It is a general program for engineers in different fields and exposes them to the different applications possible.
